We are the World

Although the majority of people who mourn his death did not know him personally, Micheal Jackson touched many lives. His music was able to travel beyond borders, race and religion. It taught me each person, no matter how small the task, could "Heal the World."

Man in the Mirror

I'm gonna make a change for once in my life
It's gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right
As I turn up the collar on my favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the street without enough to eat
Who am I to be blind pretending not to see their needs

A summer's disregard
A broken bottle top
And one's man soul
They follow each other on the wind you know
But they've got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place

Take a look at your self and make a change

I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home
Not a nickle to loan
Could it be really me pretending that they're not alone

A willow deeply scared
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind you see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at your self and make a change

Question Mark, Colon, PERIOD, Exclamation Point

If being a responsible adult requires you to go to work, even when suffering from paralyzing cramps, I want a first class ticket back to childhood. This morning I work up feeling like crap. All I wanted to do was stick my head back under the covers and spend the day in bed. Instead I found myself popping two Advils and getting ready for that most hated word: JOB!

This is when all my aspirations of making the world a better place begin to crumble. I begin to dream of the life enjoyed by Mrs. Brady (without 6 children). A housewife/home maker with a maid!

Viva Las Vegas

This weekend I was able to escape to Sin City. Las Vegas is like a dream. You can travel from New York to Paris, Rome to the Sahara, all without leaving the strip. I spent my days sunbathing beside the pool and I am quite pleased with my tan.

It's absolutely wonderful to get away and forget all worries. But now I'm back facing reality and life isn't perfect. I'm constantly trying to avoid potholes and unfortunately, more often than not, I end up with a flat. I stand beside the road wallowing in self pity hoping someone would come along and fix everything. But that doesn't happen because I'm usually hiding in the trunk. So I wipe the tears no one sees, hop out, dust myself off and change my own tire. Sometimes my mistakes are worst and when I do hit road bumps they're fatal. My last accident cost me a lot. I have been trying to hide the damage, pretending there isn't a total wreck in my driveway. I'm not sure how to begin the repairs and I'm afraid that I'm just left to watch the remains rust and then turn to dust.

Sorry about all the car analogies. I'm not sure how I managed them. I don't even have a driver's license.

Didn't mean to be such a downer. I did have a lovely time and will fill you in later. I have to be at work at 9am. That means it's past my bedtime!

Second Friday Fill-In #128

1. I grew up thinking I would be married with kids by now. Pretty happy with the outcome.

2. Facebook was the last website I was at before coming here.

3. Why don't you give me a winning lottery ticket?

4. Reading a great book in hot, bubble bath helps me relax.

5. Thanks for the memories.

6. Arrogant, pretentious guys are very off-putting.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to getting on a plane to Vegas, tomorrow my plans include partying in Sin City and Sunday, I want to lounge by the pool with a book!

One Fatal Flaw

I'm a perfectionist. When it comes to blogging I would love to just jut my thoughts down and send them into cyberspace but it never happens. I write, save and edit. I have so many entries that I haven't published because I don't think they're good enough. I wish I could be one of those people who didn't care about punctuation, grammar or spelling. I need to dot all my i's and cross my t's. Even while texting or using instant messenger it's difficult for me to use all lower case letters or even shortcuts. I can never say nm or ttyl. I write everything out. The most I can do is lol.

What does this show about me? It's hard for me ot finish projects that I've started. If it's not coming out the way I like it I abandon it. Or I decide to start again and get bored. That leaves me with unfinished crocheted blankets, bags that have to be embroidered or pictures waiting to go into a scrapbook. It's another one of the things I'm trying to change about myself.
