"Would You Like the Extended Warranty?"

I don't know if I've mentioned this, but I'm the world's biggest klutz. I have bumped and bruised just about every part of my body. I trip at least once a day at work. I some times worry I may appear to be drunk ALL the time! My personal belongings also suffer from my lack of coordination. I have broken more glasses and spilled more drinks than the average human. My blackberry once ended up in the toilet. I've even dropped my laptop off Firefighter's bed and onto the hard, tiled floor. My Kindle had to be replaced THREE times by Amazon (who by the way has the best return policy) because I kept accidentally stepping on it. This is the reason I always sign up for the extended warranty when purchasing high priced items. At some point, I always have to return it to the store to be fixed, replaced or refunded.

The whole point of this is that I've been wondering what it would be like if you could get a warranty on ANYTHING!!! All the time and effort you spent getting ready for an important meeting at work--you get it all back and can instead go out to dinner with your friends. The 9 years I spent in my first relationship: the times I chose to spend with Ex instead of my family and friends, the nights I spent stressing because I knew I should break up with him, choosing to stay in the US instead of going to school in Taiwan! The last 3 years with Firefighter: the money we've spent, the decisions I've made, my heart... It's been difficult and it's becoming harder each day.

At this point, I thought I would already be living in Bermuda. Everything we've planned is now falling apart. I'm worrying about every detail, questioning everything! What choice should I make? It's so hard because once I've made it there is no warranty. I can't get it back. My time, effort, heart...

So, I do wish these life decisions came with a warranty. It would help me be braver and take chances that I normally wouldn't take. I spend so much time analyzing things that I some times cannot just enjoy the moment. I look at every angle and outcome. But knowing I could get it all back, and have a second chance or third or even fourth...what a difference that would make!

How would your life be different if you could get that extended warranty?
Would you even take it?

  1. Oh wow. What a great post!! I'm trying to play catch up so I'm not sure what has been going on so I'm going to give specific advice cause as I read further back I may change my mind lol.

But my best advice is follow your heart. I know its scary cause your right, there is no warranty. It could all go wrong. You could get your heartbroken and regret all the years you wasted.

Or you could live happily ever after. Are you willing to risk that for the what if that may never happen?

Remember life is about the destination, it's about the journey! So put on your sunglasses, roll the windows down and enjoy the ride :)
